Come join the Youth Agency this winter and learn all there is to know about Maple Syruping! As the season is dictated by the weather, participants MUST have a flexible schedule as we will be sending emails out the night before each session in order for students to get the most out of the class. When harvesting maple syrup, it is CRUCIAL that we watch the weather. We are looking for 40 degree days along with 20 degree nights for optimal production and runs (the amount of sap that is excreted from the trees). Participants will have the chance to visit our various sites and our sugarhouse as well as take some of our syrup home on the last day! We will be tapping trees, collecting, boiling and tasting along the way. We will have 6 sessions that will range throughout the week. The last class will be a cooking class at the Maxx learning how to cook with Maple Syrup! Drop off (3pm via school bus) and pickup (6pm) will be at The Maxx and remember to dress for the outside! Once the season commences, our first session will be an introductory meeting at the Maxx and a tour of the sugarhouse at Sullivan Farm.
